Panaji Goa : On World Environment Day 2025, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant addressed the gathering at Raj Bhavan, in the presence of MP Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Chief Secretary and distinguished guests including Padma Shri Dr. Prakash and Mandakini Amte, as we united under the UNEP theme “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally.”

HCM unveiled several key documents including the GSPCB Annual Report, Khazan Land Management Plan, Mangrove Management Plan, and the National Workshop Report on erosion studies and launched the GCZMA & DOECC portals, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and environmental governance.

HCM emphasized that Goa continues to lead by example, ranked as the 3rd lowest plastic producer and user in the country. He stated that with modern STP and WTP plants, we are transforming waste into wealth and working toward a Zero Waste Goa and that initiatives on Khazan and Mangrove revival, promotion of eco-friendly Ganpati, and Agro-Environmental Policies showcase our holistic approach.

HCM further highlighted that aligned with Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and LiFE mission, Goa Governemnt is determined to build a clean, green, and sustainable Goa. He urged everyone to pledge to say no to single-use plastic and move towards an eco-conscious lifestyle.
